This was such a perfect second chance romance, which is already my favorite trope, and this one absolutely delivered.

Ten years ago, Scarlett Everhart and Ryder Perry starred together in the romantic film The Lost Letter, the movie that launched Scarlett into Hollywood stardom and gave them both a whirlwind love story off screen. Their chemistry made audiences fall in love, but their real relationship ended in heartbreak.

Now, a decade later, they are brought back together for a reunion tour and charity event to help rebuild the South Carolina beach town of Seafolly after devastating hurricanes. Returning to the place where they first fell in love forces both Scarlett and Ryder to confront old wounds, unresolved feelings, and the secrets that pulled them apart in the first place.

I loved that the setting itself felt like a character. The coastal Charleston area beach town atmosphere added so much depth and emotion to the story, and the rebuilding of the town mirrored the rebuilding of Scarlett and Ryder’s relationship in such a beautiful way.

This story is told in dual timelines and dual POV, which made the emotional payoff even stronger. Seeing both the past romance and the present day reunion unfold gave so much depth to their relationship and made all the character growth feel earned.

Ryder especially had such strong development, and I loved how both characters had to grow individually before they could truly find their way back to each other. There is plenty of longing, tension, nostalgia, and that undeniable feeling of right person, wrong time.

If you love famous main characters, Hollywood romance, reunion tours, emotional second chances, and stories where the setting is just as memorable as the romance, this is one to add to your summer reading list.
