Pot Shot by Laura Piper Lee
Pot Shot by Laura Piper LeeMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have been waiting for a book like Pot Shot by Laura Piper Lee my entire life. As a cannabis-loving NJ/Philly girl and a die-hard romance reader, this was an instant 5 stars for those two reasons alone. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Add in the fact that I laughed out loud at least four times before I was even a quarter (get it?) of the way through the book, and I was fully sold.
The author does a fantastic job educating readers about cannabis—its many uses and the ways it helps so many people medicinally—without ever feeling preachy or heavy-handed.
Nomi and Julian were high school debate rivals and almost-something ten years ago, until Nomi’s Crohn’s disease sent her life down a very different path. Now Julian is back in Sparrow Nook, NJ after landing on probation from his ER job in Philly, while Nomi is finally making her dream happen: opening a dispensary in her hometown. Oh—and she’s leasing the space right next door to where Julian is working. What could possibly go wrong? 😏
✨ Spice Scale: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (open door, chemistry-forward, very satisfying)
✨ Tropes: Second chance • Rivals to lovers • Small town • Forced proximity • Chronic illness rep • Cannabis culture
Whether you’re cannabis-friendly or just looking for a romance that has absolutely nothing to do with sports, Pot Shot deserves a spot on your TBR. I already can’t wait to reread it—and I’m especially excited to experience the audiobook when it publishes in May.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an early copy and my honest review!
